A Streptococcus
Group A Strep is one of the most common causes of Cellulitis.
"In general, cellulitis appears as a red, swollen, and painful area of skin that is warm and tender to the touch. The skin may look pitted, like the peel of an orange, or blisters may appear on the affected skin. Some people may also develop fever and chills. Cellulitis can appear anywhere on the body, but it is most common on the feet and legs."
-CDC 2022
Strep can also be the cause of Pneumonia, Necrotizing Fasciitis, Strep throat, and Streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. So basically, strep and it's kin can attack many parts of the body through different avenues.
Strep A can live on surfaces anywhere from three days to a whoppin' six and a half months, depending on conditions. It can live in cold and heat, so cleanliness and sanitization is really the best method of prevention.
